Our Story

The Mansfield Hotel is at the epicentre of Victoria’s magnificent High Country region. Built in 1862, the grand old building holds a significant place in the town’s heart as a beloved watering hole and gathering place.

 

The classic wrap around verandah on the historic hotel oversees the remarkable streetscape, whilst the 100-year-old Pin Oak in the courtyard provides shade and a story or two for both locals and visitors who have come to sit in the centre of Mansfield and secure a spot to rest.

 

The surrounding and sweeping countryside covering the land of the traditional owners, the Taungurung People, beckons adventure with its spectacular alpine scenery offering an invitation for exploration in all seasons.

 

Bringing their passion for the region and its local produce, owners Lesa and Steve Brown took over the reigns to run this longstanding and award-winning family-friendly establishment offering classic country hospitality that one can only expect when walking into this historic headquarters for lovers of fine food and wine.

 

With a focus on local and seasonal food and wine, the Mansfield Hotel’s menu features many local producers, a hand-selected wine list and 12 beer taps, showing off the best in craft and local beers plus favourites to be enjoyed at the long bar. Diners can experience fresh-made pastas and woodfire pizzas, as well as the pub classics from a melt-in-your-mouth steak to a juicy Parma!

 

Mansfield is the perfect base to start a High Country adventure, from bushwalking to fishing, rock climbing and cycling, the Hotel provides a vibrant meeting place to share your tales of adventure. As a proud Cycle Friendly business, the Hotel supports cycling groups whether its road riding or mountain biking, or just a casual pedal between villages, there’s space to park and pause to take in Mansfield’s picturesque landscape and energetic community.
